老綠綠小綠綠
每次和高中同學歡聚，都有說不完的話題，每個人記憶不同，湊合起來就是完整的故事，你一句我一句講話講到喉嚨沙啞還不肯稍事休息，因為人人都珍惜這難得的聚會因緣，有的越回憶越神勇，別班的英雄事蹟都按到我們班上了，笑聲與感嘆齊飛，好像又回到十七八的青春年歲。
感謝母校對我們自信上的培養，大家從來不會忘記北一女這學校是全台灣最好的高中，校歌裡唱著：「唯我女校寶島名高，治國齊家一肩雙挑」，少女情懷總是詩，有高中生要談戀愛，被教官說Education是愛的剋星，如果收到仰慕男生的信還會被記過，那時所謂的戀愛想像比實際多。
當然如今的情況和以前大不同，現在的學生活潑多了，師生關係也有新的一頁，學生可以在網上公然說出對每個老師不同的感想，挺有幽默感的，說某個化學老師是：「他話說出來讓你聽不懂，字寫出來讓你看不懂，人又長得傷你視力」，做學生時常捉摹不定老師的脾氣，而有這樣的說辭：「對衣服的品味獨特，情緒有點不穩定」說音樂老師：「身體呈倒三角形，頭髮非常有朝氣」，更有這樣的描述科技老師：「長得有點像八點檔演員，但他擅長短話長說，也會突然轉移話題，常常是到了下課時間，怎麼也繞不回主題，一節課就這樣過去了」，有的則是給分很善良，有的比學生還害羞還菜鳥，講話講到一半忘記剛才講什麼。淘氣的學生最會給老師取外號，有的確貼到不得不承認對方算是觀察力敏銳，有一位老師化妝太濃，學生偷偷叫她粉牆，以前我們即使在校外遇到老師也要行禮鞠躬如儀，有一次在住家附近的市場遇見這位老師，竟然說出：「粉老師好」的話，她哪裡會姓粉?也有太凶的老師外號被叫成雷公，在路上說成雷老師，一出口把自己嚇一跳。
有人說在好學校當老師是得天下英才而教育之，是一樂也，不必怎麼教，學生自然就有比你喻其中還好的成績出現。也有人說在名校教書不容易，老師開口說一句話，學生就[一言九鼎]地變成一句話頂九句，而且聰明的學生特別有懷疑精神，能問出老師回答不出來的莫名其妙問題。但至少學生們都念舊，每次聚會都把老師們請來，感念當年的用心教導，一起歡聚回憶，師生之間完全沒有距離。
多少師長、校友及學生共同打造出「北一女」這樣響亮的招牌，以一件綠襯衫，奠定了「會讀書、成績好」的標幟來，如果問一女中的學姊，她們過多的自信會說：「其實我們的好是不只如此的」這類令外人聽了不舒服的話，但這個形象卻深深嵌入了每個人的印象中。說北一女這學校有多棒 ? 流行著這樣一個笑話，有一位同學留級，朋友說: [像這麼好的學校，多讀幾年也無仿。]問北一女多有名？也以一位記者校友說的笑話來回應，有一位桃園鄉下的老農夫上台北看就讀一女中的女兒，走出火車站想問路，他知道學校就在總統府旁邊，問的時候他說：「請問總統府怎麼走？」被問的人說：「就在北一女旁邊啊！」問了等於白問，但他卻說北一女比總統府有名，別人假設他應該知道北一女甚於總統府。
因為功課好，家人的期望也高，同學間倒是常常檢討我們自己的毛病，一般認定一女中的學生太求好心切，追求完美，寫錯一個字整張作業重寫的大有人在，這種人往後做起事來很自苦，據說當了家庭主婦後，家裡廁所的衛生紙捲方向放錯了她也受不了，一定要換過來。還有人開玩笑說一位學生有一次用丟銅板來決定某選擇題的答案，下課又丟了一次，人家好奇問她為什麼，她的回答是：「難道我不該驗算嗎？」
許多人到了北一女的感覺是：強中自有強中手，天外有天人外有人，以前初中國中時功課好算是「鶴立雞群」，但一進綠園一個個變成了「雞立鶴群」，怎麼樣努力都不突出，常常有挫折感，因為總有一些人是天生自然的聰明，讓人為之氣絕。根據一位同學說她和我們那一屆畢業第一名蔡娟娟一起背英文，非常氣餒，蔡讀一遍就會背，腦子像是有photographic memory ，她只好說自己雖然也有photographic memory，但是忘記裝底片。

Here is the English definition of the word "FOR":
As a conjunction
1. Since; because; introducing a reason of something before advanced, a cause, motive, explanation, justification, or the like, of an action related or a statement made. It is logically nearly equivalent to since, or because, but connects less closely, and is sometimes used as a very general introduction to something suggested by what has gone before.
2. Because; by reason that; for that; indicating, in Old English, the reason of anything.
As a noun
1. One who takes, or that which is said on, the affrimative side; that which is said in favor of some one or something; -- the antithesis of against, and commonly used in connection with it.
As a preposition
1. Indicating that in prevention of which, or through fear of which, anything is done.
2. Indicating the space or time through which an action or state extends; hence, during; in or through the space or time of.
3. Indicating that instead of which something else controls in the performing of an action, or that in spite of which anything is done, occurs, or is; hence, equivalent to notwithstanding, in spite of; -- generally followed by all, aught, anything, etc.

And as in Chinese, the tramslation of the word "for" is: 為,為了、代替,代表、 因為,由於、對於,關於,在、為得到,為贏得、當作,作為、傾向於、往,向.
Therefore, if the taiwanese must use the word "for" in the phrase "UN for Taiwan", then shouldn't that be the other way around - as in "Taiwan for UN"?
However, in my honest humble opinion, it does not make any sense either way - literally speaking of.

Dear Ms Wu: Your article reminds me of my wife, an alumna of the class of 1973, who passed away by cancer last August. She told me the same story as you did. After reading your article, Suddenly, I dreamed of my wife, the gate of the school, and a lot of little lu-lus walking on the streets in Taipei. I cherish your article and have passed on it to my friends.
