農夫說,"羊怎麼都往回跑?"
Nung-fu said, "How come all the goats hurried backward?"
我向窗外一望,大叫,"我看見熊了!!!"
I looked outside the window, and cried out, "I saw the bears!!!"
圍籬外是有兩隻活生生的大熊.
Vividly there were two mighty bears out of our fence.
我拿起相機就衝出去.
As soon as I grabbed my camera, I rushed over.
農夫急吼著,"熊來了,你還要去嗎?"
Nung-fu yelled, "The bears are here, are you still going?"
我說,"當然! 狗仔隊不都是這樣的?"
I said, "Of course! Don't they (the paparazzi) always do this?"
原來鄰居在趕黑牛回柵欄.
Then I found out my neighbor working very hard on his Black Angus into the gate.
*Black Angus 是極好的肉牛品種.
*Black Angus is the top breed of beef cattle.

Out the gate,
爸爸在等我.
Dada was waiting for me.
跑過林蔭小徑,
Trotting along the shady trail,
我跟隨爸爸走上陽台.
I followed my dada to the deck.
他抱我,
He held me,
他擁我,
He hugged me,
在爸爸的臂彎裡,
In dada's arms,
我做了一個好夢.
I had a wonderful dream.

When the field is green,
我們玩各種好玩的遊戲.
We play all the silly games.

Jumping, swinging, climbing,

Running, wrestling, flying.
甚至還嚼青草哩!
Even trying the greens.
真的,
To tell the truth,
青草芳美的出乎意料呢!
It is amazingly tasty.

二月十四日 星期四 晨霧後晴 對雞說:吃蟲子好.
to the chicken: It's good to take the worms.
對蟲說:別走出去.
to the worms: Don't go out.
農家食譜----醉雞
Farmer's simple food----Drunk chicken
雞二磅, 鹽, 紹興酒(或黃酒)四分之三杯.
2 lbs chicken, salt, 3/4 cup Shaoxing wine(or yellow wine).
做法----------深鍋水蓋過雞
Method------Water barely cover chicken in deep pot
滾水煮雞十分鐘
Bring water to a vigorous boil for 10 minutes
熄火燜雞二十分鐘
Heat off for 20 minutes
取雞置容器內
Move chicken from pot to container
待涼
Till chicken cools off thoroughly
雞身內外抹鹽, 冷藏過夜
Rub the chicken inside and outside with salt
Let rest in refrigerator overnight
紹興酒醃雞,冷藏過夜
Marinade with Shoaxing wine, rest in refrigerator overnight

農夫發現一隻癩蛤瘼,
Nung-Fu found a toad,
"老太太(老女士)--------!" 他大聲叫我.
"Lao Tai Tai(Old lady)------!" He called me.
他想,冬眠的癩蛤瘼可能對我有用.
He thought, there might be something I could do with a toad in hibernation.
我想,母教謙抑.
I thought, mother taught me modest.
我一農婦,堪稱女士?
If it's suitable to call me, a farmer's wife, lady?
我虛心問他, "我算女士嗎?"
I asked him humbly, " Am I a lady?"
他說, "那我叫你老巫婆好了."
He said, "Fine, I'll call you old witch then."

小蜂鳥, 好久不見了.
It's been a long time, hummingbird.
嚴冬你都去哪兒啦?
Where have you been in the deep of winter?
霧茫茫, 你洞見天藍,
You saw blue sky through the gray,

市面擁擠人潮.
It's too crowded to the market.
爆竹糖果年糕,
Fireworks, candys, ricecakes,

去年中國年, 我做了一些粽子送鄰居.
I made some Zong Zis for my neighbors last Chinese Near Year.
鄰居大多都喜歡粽子.
Most of them liked the pyramid shaped sweet rice wrapped in bamboo leaf dumpling very much. 他們認識粽子.
They called it sticky rice or sweet rice.
只有一人告訴我, 粽子仍在冰凍.
Except one told me, she hated to let me know that Zong Zis were still in refrigeration.
我說,微波爐熱 30-60 秒即可食.
I said, Mocrowaved for 30-60 seconds would be fine.
農家食譜----粽子
Farmer's simple food----Sticky rice
粽葉,棉線
Dried bamboo leaves, cotton thread
糯米一包(五磅)
1 packag of sweet rice(5 Lbs)
綜合蔬菜(紅蘿蔔丁, 玉米粒, 青豆)二磅
Mixed vege(diced carrots, corn kernels, green beans) 2 Lbs
豬肉
Pork
一或兩片火腿
1 or 2 peices of Chinese Jin Hwa Hwou Twei or Virginia ham
準備Preparation--粽葉浸泡水中至軟.
Soak dry bamboo leaves in water till refresh and soft.
稍洗糯米並瀝乾.
Wash and drain sweet rice.
豬肉切 1.5 英吋方塊, 酒與醬油醃漬.
Dice pork into 1.5 inch cubes, merinate with rice wine and soy sauce.
火腿切 1/8 X 1 X 1.5 英吋薄片.
Slice ham thin to 1/8 X 1 X 1.5 inch.
做法Method-------粽葉寬邊摺成三角錐型.
Fold the round side of bamboo leaf into pyramid shape.
順序放一湯匙糯米, 一撮蔬菜丁, 肉塊, 一片火腿, 一撮蔬菜丁, 糯米.
Add a table spoon of sweet rice, a pinch of vege, pork cube,
a slice of ham, a pinch of vege, and sweet rice in order.
壓蓋粽葉.
Push bamboo leaf to cover it.
摺包粽葉尖端成三角錐型.
Fold and wrap the tip of bamboo leaf to shape it into a pymarid.
棉線紮緊.
Tighten it with cotton thread well.
置深鍋, 水蓋過粽子.
Water cover Zong-Zis in deep pot.
滾約三十分鐘.
Bring to boil for about 30 minutes.

It was windy. 天越來越黑.
It's getting darker. 羊在等農夫開門.
The goats were looking forward to see Nung-Fu to the gate. 牠們匆匆列隊前行.
In line, they hurried. 半路上,
On their way, 雨點打下來了.
Raindrops had started falling down. 牠們知道要下雨.
They knew its gonna rain. 牠們天生就知道.
They know it by nature.
