烤火雞過節 Turkey in the oven

超市擺著那麼多火雞, 何不選隻小一點的, 帶回家烤來吃? 
There are tons of turkeys for sale in the supermarket.  Why not pick one home and cook it?

雖說老中不過感恩節, 入境隨俗嘛, 況且超市擺著那麼多火雞, 何不選隻小一點的, 帶回家烤來吃?
There are tons of  turkeys for sale in the supermarket. Why not pick one home and cook it?


我選一隻九磅多重的的火雞. 一磅1.19元. 總價十四塊半左右. 其他火雞, 有的太大, 有的太重, 有的一磅1.89元太貴, 總價約在三十元上下, 統統不考慮.
I took one turkey which is little over 9 pound. 1.19/lb. The total price is around 14.50 dollars.  For those, either too big or too heavy or 1.89/lb too costly, more or less than 30 dollars are beyond consideration.


我又去拿烤火雞袋子. 一般超市會放在烹飪或鋁箔紙保鮮膜之類的地方, 或問售貨員. 按火雞大小, 選擇適當的烤火雞袋子. Then I went to get the oven bag for turkey. It can be found in cooking utensil or aluminum foil area. Otherwise, ask the salesperson where it is.  According to the weight of turkey I choose the right size of oven bag.


平常烤火雞最怕烤箱被油濺得亂七八糟, 烤後清理起來, 非常麻煩.
What I hate most is to clean the oven after  turkey has been cooked.


一切遵照包裝紙盒背後與盒內步驟說明, 火雞送進烤箱. 到時候從袋中取出火雞, 擺盤上桌.
Follow the direction, I placed the turkey in the bag into oven.  When time's up, I took the turkey out of oven bag, and served it.


香味四溢, 而烤箱清潔溜溜. 皆大歡喜.
How nice! The room was filled with turkey flavor, the oven was shiny  as brand-new.


如果實在不喜歡火雞, 洋火腿也是不錯的. 好處是物美價更廉, 且烹調方便. 它本身經過處理, 是熟的. 只需加熱, 就可切片擺盤. In case one really dosen't care for turkey, ham is another choice. The good part is the price even better. It is cooked already. Served it after heat it up a little .


節後剩菜,火雞骨頭煮成高湯, 下麵, 煮菜湯, 都好吃.
For the leftover, turkey bones always make tasty noodle soup or vege soup.


火腿切丁, 炒甘藍菜或炒番茄蛋, 下飯也都不錯.
Stir-fry diced hams with cut gailans or with sliced tomatoes and beaten eggs for about 1-2 minutes, both are good with rice, too.


農家食譜----烤火雞                       farmer's simple food----baked turkey
材料--中小型火雞一隻, 紅黃橘色番茄,          One medium or small size turkey,
        生菜少許, 烤箱袋一個.                   red, yellow, orange color tomato,
                                                     a few of wild arugula young leaves,
                                                     one turkey size oven bag.
做法--火雞預先退冰, 約需時一天.               method--Defrost turkey. It takes about one day.
        清洗火雞, 取出內臟包與頸, 可做他用.   Clean the turkey.
                                                     Get the gizzard bag and neck out.
        一切完全遵照烤箱袋說明指示.            Follow oven bag direction.

看到自己烤的火雞與照片中的主角火雞很像,好高興,今年是我一生中第一次自己烤火雞,意義非凡!能成功還真是意外呢!
真羨慕農家生活,與世無爭,若能置身其中,想必樂趣無窮!我也一直有著農場夢,但那只會是永遠的夢.能看到這一系列的寫實報導,已是種福氣.感謝農場主人,不吝於分享那份與大自然共舞的喜悅.

我試用那個牌子的袋子 來烤牛排 結果烤箱也很乾淨
