Could you tell us how to determine whether the doctor is treating me? or just the disease?
How can I get the most out of a visit for 15 min. after waiting for an hour?

Dear Victor:
Thank you for the interesting question.
I shall be able to complete an entire article soon in order that I can provide you a more complete strategy.
As we all know, the doctor and patient should work as a team and each of us, the physician, and the patient all have our responsibilities in making a right diagnosis, suggest a good treating regimen and bring total health back to the patient. This is the ultimate goal.
Through years of tradition, the patients are giving the physicians all of the responsibility based on total faith and respect.
Therefore, physicians are being put in a pedestal that some of us tend to make decisions without a team work plan with the total involvement of the patient: "who" is the major partner of this very important Life Saving Team work.
In order not to make this answer too long. Please remember, you, the patient, is the most important partner and deserve the wholehearted attention of the physician who cannot work toward your health without knowing all about you and your discomforts.
As a physician, the majority of us respect the patient, care for them and are dedicated to our profession. Most of us wants to be on time. However, if this is a continuous problem, I would bring it to the attention of the physician. On the other hand, please continue to read my articles, since I am advising patients to get yourself ready to see your physician, when you are ready with your questions, problem lists, your concerns, you will find your physician just as attentive as you are in making your health better.
This is the beginning of a series of articles to help patients get better care.
I call this the Second Opinion because I wish to do just that.
If you can take a look of my book published recently:
一定要看名醫嗎? I have in depth discussion of your question. I will continue to show you articles which will help you navigate the
difficulties of being sick and not being treated as so.
My purpose is to help you and your physician both in reaching for your ultimate health.
With personal regards.
Your question is important to everyone. I shall write soon.
